EDUCATION. INCLUSION. INDEPENDENCE

, The Zeebah Foundation

Tuesday 26th November 2024 marked a groundbreaking moment in the world of art and disability awareness. 15-year-old Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke, an autistic artist and student of The Zeebah Foundation commenced his attempt to break the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® title for the Largest Art Canvas. The current record, held by Emad Salehi, stands at 9,652sqm. Kanyeyachukwu’s canvas, measuring an impressive 12,300sqm will reflect his unique perspective, artistic talent, and unwavering passion for self-expression. In addition to raising awareness for autism, Kanyeyachukwu is also using this record attempt, titled Impossibility is a Myth to raise funds for The Zeebah Foundation's proposed state-of-the-art Autism Resource Centre.

WHO WE ARE

The Zeebah Foundation is a not-for-profit organization whose single-minded proposition is the provision of Autism resources. Autism or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviours, speech and nonverbal communication.

The Foundation is the corporate social responsibility arm of the Levene Energy Group. The Founder & Chairman of The Zeebah Foundation, Nzan Ogbe, is also the CEO of the Levene Energy Group. Providing care and support for people living with Autism is a passion that is very close to Nzan’s heart. This is of particular significance to Nzan because he has a child on the Autism spectrum. This is where Nzan’s passion and understanding of finding solutions to the disorder arose.

The World Health Organization estimates that 1 in 160 children worldwide have Autism. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) about 1 in 59 children in the United States of America have been identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder, with the condition being more prevalent in males than females. The exact cause of Autism is still unknown. However, there may be some genetic factors associated with the development of the disorder. Most importantly, there is a vast array of help and support available to those diagnosed and their families.

All over the world, there has been an obvious increase in the prevalence of the disorder. More parents and caregivers thus seek qualified professional help for their children/wards who have Autism. In the process, they are forced to go as far as Europe and the United States of America in search of quality care and services.

The Zeebah Foundation aims to offer every child with Autism (and other related special needs and disorders in Nigeria and the rest of Africa) the necessary support and tools such as inclusive education and intervention.
The Zeebah Foundation envisions an Africa where individuals with Autism and their families are educated and supported by local and global communities.
